         Topeka, Kan. –More than a 100 Washburn University students will present at Apeiron, an annual campus-wide forum, Friday, April 19. The event begins at 10:00 a.m. In its 17th year, Apeiron occurs at several locations on campus: the Washburn Room of the Memorial Union for poster presentations, the Mulvane Art Museum for fine arts presentations, and Henderson Learning Resource Center for oral presentations.          Topeka, Kan. – Washburn University will be hosting a transgender activist as part of a series of events centering on the LGBTQ+ community.  Jennicet Gutierrez is a transgender Latina organizer and advocate for transgender and immigrant rights. She will be presenting a lecture entitled “Trans Existence as an Act of Resistance” on Monday, April 15 at 12:30 p.m. in the Washburn Room of the Memorial Union.          Topeka, Kan. – Washburn University Band will perform their annual spring concert Monday, April 15 at 7:30 p.m. in White Concert Hall. The performance is free and open to the public. The band will perform Ticheli’s Amazing Grace, Bernstein’s West Side Story, Anderson’s Sandpaper Ballet and other works by Holst, Sousa and more.          Topeka, Kan. – Washburn University’s mass media department is celebrating their 25th anniversary with a banquet and keynote speaker. The banquet begins 6 p.m. Thursday, April 11 in Washburn A/B in Memorial Union on Washburn’s campus. Tickets are free for students and $20 for mass media alumni and friends.
