         Topeka, Kan. – Every year faculty and staff from Washburn’s Mabee Library select a book for all first-year students and the community as a whole to read as part of the Washburn University iRead program.          Topeka, Kan. – The Higher Learning Commission (HLC) officially awarded Washburn University reaffirmation of accreditation during the HLC’s July 29, 2019 meeting. The HLC is one of six regional organizations in the U.S. that reviews colleges and universities to ensure they meet acceptable levels of quality. Accreditation is a voluntary, independent review of educational programs to determine that the education provided by an institution is of uniform and sound quality.more...

         Topeka, Kan. – Leading up to its 100th anniversary in 2024, Washburn University’s Mulvane Art Museum is holding a series of exhibitions titled “100 minus.” The exhibits honor the artists, the art and those who have visited and supported the Mulvane Art Museum over the last century. The first presentation - Variations in the Art of Printmaking - is available now through September 28, 2019. This exhibit is located on the second level and is free and open to the public.more...

         Washburn University’s Mulvane Art Museum has launched an exhibit and fundraising program designed to highlight some works from the permanent collection which rarely go on view to the public because they are “most in need of conservation,” according to the museum staff.    The artworks in the exhibit – “Endangered Art: A Reprise” -- represent some of the finest works in the Mulvane’s collection, according to Rebecca Manning, the museum’s collections manager.more...
