It’s Finals Week at Washburn

If it seems a little quiet on campus this week, it’s because final examinations for the fall semester are underway. The university will be closed from December 22, 2018 until January 2, 2019. Week Ahead on Wednesday resumes with the start of classes the week of January 13, 2019.

Friday, December 14, 2018 – 6:30 p.m. – Washburn University
Lee Arena -- Free & Open to the Public
Fall graduation ceremonies scheduled for Thursday/Friday
Washburn University's fall 2018 commencement ceremony is Friday, Dec. 14 at 6:30 p.m. in Lee Arena. Doors open to the public at 5:30 p.m. and the ceremony is expected to last approximately two hours. No tickets are required. The event is open to the public and parking is free for all. A link to live stream the ceremony will be available approximately 30 minutes prior the ceremony start time. Operation Fleece Navidad
The Kinesiology Department is holding their 6th annual Operation Fleece Navidad winter clothing drive to collect gently used outerwear. Items gratefully accepted include jackets, hoodies, sweatpants, coats, hats, scarves, gloves and socks. Donations go to men, women and children at the Topeka Rescue Mission. Nearly 2,000 items have been donated in the last five years. Donations can be brought to the donation box outside the kinesiology department in Petro Center 201, or you can email email@example.com to make arrangements to pick up your donation elsewhere on campus.

PTKAW holds its sixth annual shoe drive
Phi Theta Kappa Alumni of Washburn (PTKAW) is holding their 6th annual Shoe Drive in collaboration with Doorstep Inc. of Topeka through Dec. 21. All types and sizes of shoes are welcome; boots are especially appreciated. Donation boxes are located in Henderson, room 116; main entrance of Mabee Library; Benton Hall, 2nd floor lobby; Union Underground by the Office of Student Involvement and Development; Living Learning Center lobby; Morgan Hall, Welcome Center; Lincoln Hall lobby; and Petro Allied Health Center, School of Nursing main office.
