04/02/19 02:04 pm CDT

Topeka, Kan. – Washburn University history lecturer Charles Anthony Silvestri will perform readings from his recently published book of lyric poetry, “A Silver Thread.” Silvestri’s reading and meet and greet is this Wednesday, April 3 at noon in the Ichabod Shop, located in the lower level of Memorial Union on Washburn’s campus. He will be available to sign copies and talk with attendees. It is free and open to the public.

Published in February, “A Silver Thread” is a retrospective collection of Silvestri’s lyric poetry spanning 2001-2018. Some of these poems were written for composers, some have never been published and some were created for the book. With more than 75 works included, “A Silver Thread” is a comprehensive timeline of Silvestri’s writings.

Silvestri is a lyricist, author, composer and speaker. He has worked with artists from all over the world to provide custom writings for composers and musical groups. In addition to “A Silver Thread,” Silvestri’s poem “Sleep” was turned into a children’s book. It will also be available for purchase at the Ichabod Shop. Silvestri has been a lecturer in history at Washburn since 2008.
