WHAT: Washburn University athletic teams welcome Topeka-area/Northeast Kansas athletes to campus this summer to sharpen their skills in a variety of sports. Complete details can be found at: https://wusports.com/sports/2010/1/5/10summercamps.aspx

Basketball Camps

June 13

  • Women’s Basketball Elite Camp (girls entering 9th – 12th grade). Basketball fundamentals, defensive concepts, offensive moves and shooting form. $65 per participant.
  • 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.
  • Lee Arena in the Petro Allied Health Center


June 17 – 20

  • Brett Ballard Basketball Full-day Camp (ages 6 – 14). Skill instruction, ball handling, shooting, passing, defense, rebounding, individual offensive moves, competition and games. Campers will be paired by age group and skill level.  Goals will be lowered for younger campers. $200 per camper.
  • 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
  • Lee Arena in Petro Allied Health Center


June 24 – 27

  • Brett Ballard Basketball Half-day Camp (ages 6 – 14). Skill instruction, ball handling, shooting, passing, defense, rebounding, individual offensive moves, competition and games. Campers will be paired by age group and skill level.  Goals will be lowered for younger campers. $85 per camper.
  • 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. OR 1 p.m. – 4 p.m.
  • Lee Arena in Petro Allied Health Center


Baseball Camp

June 17 – 19

  • Baseball Youth Camp (ages 11 – 14): Fundamental lessons on pitching, hitting and defense. $100 per camper.
  • 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.
  • Falley Field


Cheer Camp

June 14 – 16

  • Cheer Camp (girls entering 9th – 12th grade). Stunting, jumps, motions, cheers/chants, dance and some tumbling. Campers will stay in Lincoln Hall, one of Washburn University’s residential living facilities.
  • June 14 – 15, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.; June 16, 10 a.m. – 12:45 p.m.

Football Camp

June 18

  • Football Team Camp (player entering 9th – 12th grade). The day will consist of a morning and afternoon session.  Sessions will be conducted by the Washburn University Coaches.
  • 8:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.
  • Yager Stadium


June Volleyball Camp (There are more in July)

June 20 -22

  • Volleyball Team Camp (high school teams comprised of eight or more players). Teams will play a round-robin style tournament during three sessions, as well as a bracket tournament after pool play. Registration includes a Coaches Clinic June 20. $55 per player.
  • June 20, Coaches Clinic, 4:30 p.m. – 7 p.m.; June 21 -22, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.
