Washburn Tech’s Recycled Rides program will give away two more vehicles to families in need at 6:00 p.m., Monday, November 25 in Washburn Tech’s auto collision facility at 5724 S.W. Huntoon, Building K. An open house for Washburn Tech’s auto service and auto collision programs will follow.
Recycled Rides partners auto students with instructors and professional mentors in the community to refurbish two vehicles, which are awarded to individuals or families in need. Local businesses and individuals also donate parts and supplies to get the vehicles running again.
Washburn Tech was the first school in the nation to participate in the National Auto Body Council’s Recycled Rides program. The vehicles, refurbished and presented this fall, will bring the total number of rides donated to seven. Washburn Tech’s event is being held in conjunction with NABC’s Recycled Rides National Ride-Away Day.
