An added opportunity is bringing new style to Washburn Tech’s Summer Camp. Cosmetology is among the career explorations being offered at this year’s event, set for June 4-7 for incoming seventh and eighth graders and June 11-14 for incoming ninth and tenth graders. The camp is designed to excite and inspire young minds as they explore their interests and even consider future career choices.
Each session is 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. and costs $75, which includes lunch, a morning snack and an afternoon snack. Students may be dropped off at 8:30 a.m. A light breakfast is provided between 8:30-9 a.m.
Campers choose from a dozen career explorations in the following areas: manufacturing, auto collision, auto service, woodworking, construction, computer technology, culinary arts, drafting, electricity, health care, welding and cosmetology. One day, campers might operate a mini-excavator or prepare a tasty snack with a culinary instructor. The next day, they might learn how to build a computer network or give someone a manicure. New and exciting challenges await!
Applications will be accepted no later than Wednesday, May 9. Packets are available in the Washburn Tech main office or at www.WashburnTech.edu. Campers must select five programs of exploration and every effort will be made to schedule kids in four of their preferred career explorations although there are no guarantees.
