WHAT: Students from eight area high schools will participate in the Capital City Marching Band Festival Wednesday, Oct. 10. The Washburn University music department, with assistance from Manning Music, hosts this annual festival. The public is welcome and there is a fee to attend. Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for children/students (with school IDs).

DETAILS: Topeka-area marching bands, color guards and drumlines will perform their best half-time performances for evaluation during the 2018 Capital City Marching Band Festival. Judges evaluate bands on musical performance, entertainment value, and marching and maneuvering. Bands can win in four categories – drum majors, color guard, percussion, and overall band.
Marching bands from Leavenworth High School, Topeka West High School, Seaman High School, Shawnee Heights High School, Buhler High School, Topeka High School, and Washurn Rural High School will compete. The Washburn University band will perform before awards are given.
