         The team of Connor England and Mark Feuerborn won first place in the Washburn Pitch Competition held October 20 at Washburn University. Their business proposal for Allspice, an electronic spice rack that dispenses exact measurements of spices, was among four pitches presented in the Finals Round of the competition.          The Knockout Round of the Washburn Pitch Competition was held at Washburn University on October 6. More than 100 student entrepreneurs participated from Washburn University and Washburn Institute of Technology (Washburn Tech), representing 69 teams. Each team had three minutes to present, or pitch, a new business idea to a panel of judges.          Washburn University announced that it has selected the winners in the Be Ready Challenge entrepreneurship showcase in which 15 high school students had the opportunity to pitch new business ideas to a panel of judges. First place was awarded to Rachel Louise Taylor, a recent graduate of Shawnee Heights High School and current freshman at Washburn.          Students at Washburn University and Washburn Institute of Technology have three minutes to pitch a new business idea to a panel of judges in the Washburn Pitch Competition. Through a collaborative partnership with GO Topeka, $25,000 in cash prizes will be awarded to students with the top four presentations, the top freshman entry, and the top Washburn Tech entry.
