         Topeka, Kan.—The Washburn University Leadership Institute will host their eighth annual Leadership Challenge EventTM (LCETM) April 5 and 6, 2018. The Leadership Institute staff and student leaders are seeking people from the Topeka-area community who are willing to play a role in the leadership simulation.          Topeka, Kan. – Dr. Elizabeth Varon will present “Lee at Appomattox in History and Memory” during Washburn University’s annual Lincoln Harman Lecture. The lecture is Tuesday, Feb. 6, at 7 p.m. in the Bradbury Thompson Alumni Center.            Topeka, Kan. –Washburn University’s Mulvane Art Museum is starting the new year with three fresh, new exhibitions. The exhibits, “8 Studio Practices | Art Faculty Beyond the Classroom,” “Endangered Art,” and “light and heavy,” will be open by Feb. 5. The Mulvane Art Museum will host a reception celebrating the opening of the three new exhibitions Friday, Feb. 2, 2018 from 5:30-7:30 in the Museum.          The Washburn University Alumni Association and Foundation is excited to announce a $1.5 million matching gift challenge to the new Indoor Practice Facility at Washburn University.     The gift, from a local family foundation of a dedicated Washburn alumnus, will match new or increased gifts to the practice facility up to $1.5 million.
