    A team of students from Valley Falls High won first place honors in the 1-3A class category at the 2014 Math Day competition at Washburn University. Team members were Reid Bunde, Collin Edwards and Noah Schmeissner. Participating in the event were 159 students from 19 Kansas high schools, with awards determined on the basis of scores earned in a competitive examination.     Washburn University student Lauren Moon, of Silver Lake, was a finalist in the first Elevator Pitch Competition staged Nov. 18 on the campus. She and three fellow students teamed to present information on a marketing firm that specializes in technology consulting.
