    A team of students from Silver Lake High won second place honors in the 1-3A class category at the 2014 Math Day competition at Washburn University. Team members were Kayla Fellers, Cody Renfro and Lucas Schroeder. Participating in the event were 159 students from 19 Kansas high schools, with awards determined on the basis of scores earned in a competitive examination.     Washburn University student Philip Foos, of Lecompton was a finalist in the first Elevator Pitch Competition staged Nov. 18 on the campus. He and three fellow students teamed to present information on a marketing firm that specializes in technology consulting.     Teams representing Olathe South, Hayden, Valley Falls high schools and Maur Hill Mount Academy won first place honors in their respective class designations at the 2014 Math Day competition at Washburn University. Camella Carlson, a student at Olathe South High, earned the top score on the placement test. The team from Olathe South were winners of Mathnificent Race, a scavenger hunt on campus for which they were given only mathmore...
