Bret Sidesinger of Topeka, will compete in the WorldSkills Cabinetmaking
Qualifying Trial July 24-27 in Las Vegas, Nev. Sidesinger, a 2013
graduate of Washburn Tech’s cabinet and millwork program, qualified
after earning a top score at SkillsUSA national championships in June.
He and his fellow competitors also met the competition’s age

David Marstall of Topeka, who is a student in Washburn Tech’s auto
collision repair program and a member of the Marine Corps Reserve, is
the recipient of two grants given by industry. He is a winner of the 3M
Hire Our Heroes grant, as well as an Alcoa Aluminum Repair Training
Marstall is among 59 winners nationwide to receive a Hire our Heroes
grant of $2,500 to purchase tools and equipment needed to start a career
Superior math skills added up to a national award for Tanya Twombly, a
2013 graduate of Washburn Tech’s Practical Nursing program. The Delia
resident won a silver medal at this year’s SkillsUSA Championships held
on June 27th in Kansas City, Missouri.
Twombly finished second in the Medical Math competition, in which
contestants demonstrate their knowledge of general math concepts used in
