         Washburn Tech Student Government is marking Black History Month by hosting a special guest. Thomas Rosenblum, historian at the Brown v.          Topeka, Kan. – More than 225 middle school and high school students from Topeka and surrounding counties will be “Taking a Stand in History” at Washburn University Saturday, February 27 for the District 3 History Day competition.  Registration opens at 7:30 a.m. with the competition starting at 8:30 a.m. in Washburn’s Memorial Union and in nearby Henderson Hall.     Nationally, more than half a million students participate in the competition.more...

    Kansas Silent Film Festival kicks off tonight (Feburary 25, 2017) at Washburn University

       In its 21st year, the Kansas Silent Film Festival's mission is to provide an entertaining and educational forum for silent films and it's one of the few free film festivals to do so. Every year, on the last weekend in February, from Friday night through Saturday night, come rain or snow or shine, the festival showcases films from the silent era with live musical accompaniment.
