Washburn University selects new firm as advertising “agency of record”

             Washburn University’s Board of Regents approved the university’s choice of a new advertising agency today.  The agency – The Frank Agency from Overland Park, KS – was selected from more than twenty proposals issued in response to the university’s request for proposals.

            The responses were evaluated by a selection committee which then invited four firms to the campus for formal presentations.  Members of the university community were invited to attend the sessions and add their insights.  The committee then made a final selection which they presented to the president for his approval.

            “I was very impressed by the caliber of all of the firms who were invited to campus along with the many thoughtful proposals we received,” said Dr. Jerry Farley, president of the university.  “It made the choice difficult.  I think the Frank Agency will serve the university well at this point in Washburn’s history.”

            Richard Liedtke, executive director of enrollment management and chair of the selection committee agreed and noted the firm brought a wide range of higher education experience along with a strong commitment to measurement and results-driven marketing.

            “We know Washburn University provides an outstanding education and a highly supportive environment for our students,” Liedtke said.  “But this is also a very competitive marketplace and reaching prospective students can be a real challenge.”

            Liedtke noted enrollment at Washburn has declined over the past few years – as it has with most colleges and universities across the nation – but that Washburn has new programs and facilities and Washburn will grow.

            “Our goal is to grow to 8 thousand students at the traditional campus by 2022,” Liedtke said.  “That’s a good, sustainable size for Washburn and we’re convinced that this new marketing partner can help us reach that goal.”

            Washburn University is Washburn University is a public institution with more than 6,600 students and 800 faculty and staff involved in more than 200 academic programs. Our programs lead to certification, associate, bachelor, master's degree or doctor of nursing practice.  The university also offers the juris doctor degree at its well-known law school situated on the traditional campus.

Washburn University is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association and many of the individual programs have additional accreditations.
