DETAILS: The Leadership Challenge Event is hosted by the Washburn University Leadership Institute. The event is a unique leadership competition, facilitated by the students of the Leadership Institute, which gives high school and college students an opportunity to participate in a competition that simulates real-life experiences. The participating students are challenged to address a variety of situations where the outcome is dependent on the leadership decisions made throughout the course of the competition.
The Leadership Challenge Event Launch is designed to promote sponsorship and volunteer opportunities for the seventh annual Leadership Challenge Event, to be held in March. The launch program will feature a preview of last year’s simulation competition, recognition of past sponsors and volunteers, recognition of campus and community partners, and an overview of what the Leadership Challenge Event consists of.
Previous Co-Title Sponsors Tammy Dishman, president of Capitol Federal Foundation and Michel’ Cole, vice president, corporate communications and public affairs at Westar Energy, will speak to the benefits of sponsoring this event. Angel Romero, senior director of resource development at United Way of Greater Topeka will reflect on the value of volunteering as a member of the community.
