WHAT: Washburn’s annual Homecoming Parade will take place Saturday, Oct. 29. The parade route is around and through Washburn’s campus.
WHEN: Saturday, October 28, 2016
Beginning at 10:00 a.m.
WHERE: Around Washburn University’s campus- parade will begin at 19th and MacVicar, travel down 17th St., south on Washburn Ave., and turn on 19th St. to travel back through campus on Durow Drive.
Traffic that will be affected by the parade route:
- Beginning at 6:00 pm Friday, Oct. 28, all of Parking Lot 7 will be closed until after the completion of the parade.
- Parking Lot 8 will be closed from 11:00 pm Friday until after the parade ends on Saturday morning.
- 19th St off MacVicar will be closed from 9:45 am Saturday, Oct. 29 until after the parade is completed.
- Parking Lot R will close at 9:45 am Saturday and will remain closed until after the parade.
WHO: Washburn University students, community members, area organizations
DETAILS: The Washburn University Homecoming Parade, featuring President Jerry Farley and university mascot Mr. Ichabod, will include more than 50 entries. Groups and floats include area bands, political candidates, Washburn Homecoming royalty candidates, and Washburn student organizations.
