Media Advisory: Noted chef presents Taste of China gourmet buffet and workshop at Washburn University

Chef Fuchsia Dunlop, James Beard Award winning writer and cook hosts “A Taste of China” workshop and gourmet Chinese buffet at Washburn University this Thursday

WHAT: Chef Fuschia Dunlop, an English writer and cook is hosting a gourmet Chinese buffet as well as a lecture workship and a cooking workshop at Washburn University’s Memorial Union on Thursday, November 3.  The buffet is open from noon until 1:30 p.m. and costs $12 per person at the door.  registration is required for the workshops which take place in the afternoon.  Advance registration is available for the limited seating for the workshops.  Contact the Memorial Union or call Andy Vogel from International Programs at 670-1051.

Chef Dunlop is currently on a book tour for her sixth book – Land of Fish and Rice.  Her appearance is sponsored by the Washburn University Memorial Union in conjunction with the Office of International Programs.  The plan is to make this international culinary workshop an annual event.

Gourmet Buffet – Noon – 1:30 p.m.

Lecture Workshop – 1:45 p.m. – 2:30 p.m.

            (an illustrated lecture on Chef Dunlop’s experiences in the world of Chinese cuisine)

Cooking Workshop – 3:00 p.m. – 3:45 p.m.

            (Demonstration and tips on bringing Chinese cuisine into your own kitchen)

WHERE: Washburn University Memorial Union – Washburn Room A/B

WHO: Additional sponsors include the Department of Modern Languages, the International Club, Washburn Dining Services, the English Department, the Department of History, the Washburn University Institute of Technology and the International Center of Topeka.
