Career Fair Offers Networking Opportunity

03/30/17 11:03 am CDT

Making the leap from college to career is the focus of Washburn Tech’s Career Fair. The two-day event is scheduled from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. on April 8 and April 13 in the Washburn Tech Conference Center at 5724 SW Huntoon St. It provides Washburn Tech students with an opportunity to meet potential employers and polish their interview skills.

This is the first year that Washburn Tech is splitting the event into two, separate days. Divided by program, the change is designed to give companies more time with potential hires. More than 30 area companies have signed-on to participate in the 2017 Career Fair.

On Thursday, April 8, students in the following programs are invited to attend:

  • Construction (Building Technology, Cabinet/Millwork, Climate and Energy Control Technologies, Commercial and Heavy Construction and Electrical Technology)
  • Advanced Manufacturing (Advanced Systems Technology, Machine/Tool Technology and Welding)
  • Transportation (Auto Collision, Automotive Service Technician, Commercial Truck Driving, Diesel Technology, Locomotive Diesel Technology and Heavy Diesel Construction Technology)

On Tuesday, April 13, students in the following programs are invited to attend:

  • Hospitality and Human Services (Cosmetology, Culinary Arts and Early Childhood Professional)
  • Drafting and Design (Graphics Technology and Technical Drafting)
  • Health Care (Advanced Health Care Technology, Certified Nurse Aide (CNA), Certified Medication Aide (CMA), Emergency Communications, Emergency Medical Technician, Health Care Technology, Home Health Aide, Phlebotomy, Practical Nursing and Surgical Technology)
  • Business (Office Careers Technology, Business Bookkeeping and Accounting, Legal Office Professional and Medical Office Specialist)

Washburn Tech holds its Career Fair once a year, during the spring semester. However, business and industry can connect with our student population year-round by accessing www.witjobs.net, a free job site where companies can post openings online.
