Sunflower Music Festival returns for 31st year

Series of 10 free concerts begins Friday, June 9

WHAT: This summer’s Sunflower Music Festival marks the 31st year of the event with 10 concerts by both outstanding professional musicians and some of the region’s most talented student artists.

The Sunflower Music Festival is hosted by Washburn University’s Music Department and co-sponsored by a number of organizations including Capitol Federal, Security Benefit, the Rea Charitable Trust, the Redbud Foundation, the CCS Fund of Topeka Community Foundation, the Topeka Community Foundation and the Lewis H. Humphreys Charitable Trust.

WHEN: Friday June 9 through Saturday June 17

WHERE: White Concert Hall on the Washburn University Campus. Wednesday Noon mini-concert at Grace Episcopal Cathedral.

VISUALS: Daily concerts in a wide variety of musical styles along with the  Blanche Bryden Institute – the educational arm of the festival.  Logo artwork available at:

Program No. 3 – Amernet Quartet – Sunday, June 11, 7:30 P.M.

Program No. 4 – Jazz Night – Monday, June 12, 7:30 P.M.

Program No. 5 – Chamber Ensembles – Tuesday, June 13, 7:30 P.M.

Program No. 6 – Chamber Orchestra – Wednesday, June 14, 7:30 P.M.

Program No. 7 – Blanche Bryden Collegiate String Quartets – Thursday, June 15, 7:30 P.M.

Program No. 8 – Chamber Ensembles – Friday, June 16, 7:30 P.M.

Program No. 9 – Blanche Bryden High School Concert – Saturday, June 17, 3:00 P.M.

Program No. 10 – Chamber Orchestra – Saturday, June 17, 7:30 P.M.
