WHAT: Washburn Day of Service: “The Little Event”

WHEN: Saturday, Aug. 26, 2017; 8 a.m. - noon

WHERE:

  • 8 a.m. – Event check in on the Memorial Union Lawn
  • 8:30 – 11:30 a.m. - Harvesters, Boys & Girls Club of Topeka, The American Red Cross, Children’s Discovery Center, KVC, Shawnee County Parks and Recreation, Keep America Beautiful and the YWCA
  • Noon – Lunch at the University Methodist Church, off of 17th Street

WHO: Washburn University students

DETAILS: Washburn Day of Service: “The Little Event” invites students to join other students serving Topeka-area non-profit organizations. Saturday, Aug. 26, beginning at 8 a.m. and ending at noon, Washburn students will volunteer at several locations around town, including Harvesters, Boys & Girls Club, The American Red Cross, and more.

The Little Event is the prequel to the annual “The Big Event” which occurs during Homecoming week. During The Big Event, hundreds of students volunteer for a full day at sites throughout Topeka and the surrounding communities.
