The Washburn University Law Clinic will be offering a Veterans Legal Assistance Clinic for veterans and other service-connected individuals on Saturday, October 15, 2016, from 10 a.m. to noon. One portion of the event focuses on preparing free wills, living wills, and durable powers of attorney, while another portion concentrates on providing representation for the expungement of convictions. All services are available for the duration of the clinic. Upper-level Law Clinic interns, who have been certified by the Kansas Supreme Court to be legal interns, will be providing the legal services.

WILLS/POWER OF ATTORNEY CLINIC

The Clinic will be staffed by Washburn Law students who will be working pro bono under the close supervision of faculty. After the initial screening, interns will meet with clients and complete the process. Veterans, service members, and their families are eligible for this service.

EXPUNGEMENT CLINIC

All paperwork regarding conviction, including Complaint, Disposition Order, Probation Order, or case number, should be brought to the event. Veterans and service members are eligible for this service. A list of convictions that are expungable can be found at: washburnlaw.edu/veteransclinic

Law students, working pro bono under the close supervision of faculty, will assist with petitioning the court for an order of expungement of convictions and will appear at the expungement hearing with the veteran.
